ORLANDO, FL, May 16, 2019 – NEF – NAWIC Education Foundation is pleased to announce their winners for this year’s National Design Drafting Competition, formerly known as CAD/Design/Drafting Competition. Each year NEF offers this program through efforts of tireless NAWIC volunteers working with schools and other organizations in order to promote this program.
Each year entries are evaluated for detail, accuracy and originality of work. Contestants are judged at the local level initially and the local winner’s entry is submitted for Regional then finally National competition. The 2018-2019 design project was a “High Speed Study Zone”, a safe space for students to go to in the evening that will allow them to access a high-speed internet connection for studying and completing schoolwork.
For this year’s project, specific details were mandatory for the “High Speed Study Zone”. Students must be able to access this space during and after school hours. The study zone required two entrances: one for everyone to regularly use, and one designated as an emergency exit. All parts of the space must comply with ADA accessibility requirements.
This year’s High School winners are as follows:
1st Place: Isaac Vera, 12th grade – NAWIC Pacific Southwest Region – El Paso Chapter #248
2nd Place: Clayton Rettig, 11th grade – NAWIC Southeast Region – Atlanta Chapter #49
